Translations/Interpreters

In Germany, many public offices and institutes require certified translations of your documents (e.g.: birth certificates, marriage certificates, certificates) These certificates need to be translated by a state-approved interpreter.

Driver's licence

If you have a non-EU driver’s licence and you already have moved into an apartment and registered at the registry office, your drivers’ licence is only valid for 6 months.

After these 6 months, the driver’s licence will no longer be recognised and you may no longer drive a car.

You will need a driver’s licence issued in Federal Republic of Germany to continue driving.

If you want an EU driver’s licence, you need to go to the registry office and apply for your new driver’s licence in writing.

You can find driving schools where you can take a course and an exam for a specific driver’s licence online at https://www.gelbeseiten.de/fahrschulen/muehlacker

This rule does not apply to persons with EU driving licences.
